What are Best Practices and Evidence-Based Practices?

Best Practices

Best Practices are methods, procedures and practices that are generally considered to be superior and more effective. For our purposes we will define some best practices that we've discovered are effective for our organization.

Evidenced-Based Practices

Evidence-Based Practices are a subset of Best Practices. However, EBPs are treatment modalities that have been proven to work through scientific research. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Adminstration (SAMHSA) has its own guide to evidence-based practices here:
